Our Story.....
Annabelle became my Commander and Chief from the moment I went into labor and I quickly learned that she would be ruling by dictatorship, not democracy. However, I willingly surrendered without complaint to my new subservient position ….until she started teething.
We went through a ten week “horror” period that completely changed our family dynamic. As Annabelle’s top and lower two teeth started to sprout, my cute dictator suddenly became a demanding tyrant. During the day she was clingy, cranky, and needy. She wanted to be in my arms all the time and refused to eat.
My husband, Andrew, a Pharmacist, decided to experiment with various over the counter medications (not recommended) but it did little to change her temperament. We also tried giving her gel teething rings, frozen mini waffles, refrigerated washcloths, conventional and organic teething biscuits. Nothing worked.
I was at my whit’s end when Andrew suggested we make our own biscuit, one better suited to Annabelle’s mouth. It would have to be dairy, soy, and wheat free since food allergies run in the family and it would have to appeal to Annabelle’s picky pallet. So we spent a long Maine winter in the kitchen coming up with different recipes and finally found a formula that worked.
During the day I would give her a biscuit and she would be occupied and happy – a glorious break for me! I was also glad that she was eating since her appetite was so sparse. Eventually the tyrant turned back into a cute dictator and our life returned to normal. We’re still waiting for the molars to cut through (ouch!) but feel well prepared for whatever happens.
We invite you to try Belle’s Biscuits to make your little teether more comfortable. They’re individually wrapped in pairs for easy portability and fit perfectly into a diaper bag or purse. Belle’s can be given to any child when a healthy snack is needed. They also taste great when dunked into a hot cup of coffee or tea! Enjoy!
